Lori's first artistic endeavor began with modeling clay as a child. Elephants were a favorite subject. Drawing (badly) came a little later, horses being the target of attention through middle school. She turned to videography in her 20s, recording the games of her son's AYSO soccer team. Those videos were used by Lori and her husband (coaches of the team) as teaching aids, long before this was standard practice for athletes of all ages. The deep dive into photography came much later and is now a passion/obsession.
Lori earned a Bachelor's degree in Linguistics from UCLA, then a Master's in Slavic Linguistics from the same institution. She has dabbled in a variety of languages ranging from Latin, Greek, German, Italian, French, Danish, Polish and Russian, with greatest proficiency in German and Russian. Traveling to Europe where she has been able use these skills has been loads of fun. The results of those travels are on display throughout these pages. After 23 years in corporate America, where Lori was a programmer, then systems engineer and finally liaison for software developers, she had the opportunity to retire early and explore landscape design and gardening. Then the photography bug bit…
Lori loves nature and wildlife photography, but most often is found capturing landscapes or just plain old touristy, travel images. She is happiest trekking about with her camera gear, whether in a national park or the streets of a far-away city.
Lori is at home with her husband in a wooded area near Seattle, Washington, where they share the earth with squirrels, the occasional deer, bear and coyotes, as well as many bird species, some of which you find on these pages.
